SRINAGAR: Syed Ali Geelani, chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, has strongly condemned the fresh arrest spree unleashed by Indian police across the territory.
“Police had intensified the atrocities against people in every nock and corner of the occupied territory in this holy fasting month of Ramazan and had made the lives of the people miserable,” said Geelani in a statement. He said that scores of youth had been detained on fake charges. He called for release of political prisoners before Eidul Fitr.
The chairman also demanded release of Hurriyet leaders including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Ameer Hamza Shah, Shakeel Ahmad Yatoo, Nasir Abdullah, Mohammad Amin Parray, Hakeem Showkat Ahmad, Abdul Hameed Parray, Assadullah Parray, Merajud din Nanda and Zubair Ahmad Turray before Eid. He said that the continued imprisonment of these leaders had no constitutional or legal justification.
