ISLAMABAD President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana and the rest of the political leaders strongly condemned the Lahore blast on Wednesday and expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives.
In their respective statements issued on Wednesday, President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, former president Asif Ali Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazulur Rehman condemned the terror attack in Lahore and expressed their condolence over the loss of lives.
President Mamnoon and PM Nawaz have said they equally share the grief of the bereaved families in this hour of distress. “The terrorists cannot demoralise us through their dastardly acts,” they said.
They paid rich tribute to the personnel of Pakistan Army who were targeted while performing their duties during the national census.
The protection of life and property of the people will be ensured at every cost and terrorism will be weeded out, they added.
The prime minister directed the authorities concerned to extend all requisite assistance to the provincial government.
Shahbaz Sharif also extended sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families. He ordered the authorities to ensure proper medical treatment to the victims. He also directed inspector general (IG) of police to submit report of the mishap as early as possible
Imran Khan said in a statement that an exceptional strategy was indispensable to defeat anti-state elements.
Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar said the Lahore incident could not dampen the courage of the government and the people in continuing the fight against terror.
In a statement, Dar condemned the attack on census teams at Lahore’s Bedian Road on Wednesday, saying it was an act of cowardice and those perpetrating such crimes would not go unpunished.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari condemned the attack, saying it was the result of non-implementation of National Action Plan (NAP).
Talking to reporters in Sukkur, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that several points of NAP had been ignored. He said that the Punjab government had not taken action against terrorists.
