National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi director general Irfan Mangi has held a meeting with judges hearing corruption references against the Sharif family, according to media reports on Thursday .
The meeting between Mangi and accountability court judges Mohammad Bashir and Arshad Malik took place at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad, in the chamber of Justice Malik.
A report circulating on various social media platforms maintained that the supervisor of Panamagate prosecution team, Sardar Muzaffar, was also present in the meeting.
Mangi was quoted in these reports as saying that the meeting was held to discuss administrative issues. He said the judges were facing issues including lack of an office for investigating officers.
“Our lawyers have a small room here; there is air conditioning problem as well,” the NAB DG said, adding that since the Panama Papers investigation had concluded, and he and others now had nothing to do with the references. “We are not even a witness in these cases now,” he said. “Whatever is to be now is to be done by the courts.”
