NOWSHERA: Fazlur Rehman, chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), on Sunday vowed that he would bring an end to corruption after coming to power.
Addressing a gathering at the concluding ceremony of the three- day centenary celebrations, the cleric said the “historic congregation” has sent a message of hope and peace to the world.
Fazl said, “Islam, being the religion of peace, has no place for terrorism, extremism and his party would continue peaceful struggle in line with vision of our forefathers for attainment of their goals.”
“My party advocates for national unity, sect-free politics based on no violence and would not allow anyone to sabotage atmosphere of inter-faith harmony in Pakistan,” he remarked.
He said Islam is the most popular religion of the world, which can lead humanity towards lasting achievement of peace and harmony.
“Peace in world can’t be established unless we give rights to people on their resources, economic empowerment, and social justice, ending deprivation of marginalized communities, poverty, hunger and speedy justice to all.”
The cleric suggested bilateral agreements for exploration of mineral resources, adaptation of technological skills and enhancement of diplomatic relations with developed countries based on mutual respect.
“Politicians calling each others’ thief or corrupt was not a dignified way of politics,” he said. “JUI-F after coming to power would eliminate corruption and ensure good governance as they had shown during its regime in the past.”
The cleric said Muslims were being subjected to brutal torture in Syria, Iraq, Libya, India-held Kashmir and Yemen.
“The world should understand that whether we should give peaceful or blood tinted future to the world.” “After its creation people had pinned expectations to the UN for solution of core issues but the Palestine and Kashmir issues had not been addressed.”
He said the world powers had failed to establish peace in Afghanistan, adding that peace could only prevail in the war-torn country with the withdrawal of foreign troops.
Fazl said his party wanted a peaceful settlement of all issues with neigbour countries, including India.
He said the Pakistanis loved the Harmain Sharefain and would give every sacrifice for its protection.
Fazl said, “China is our time-tested friend and we support CPEC as it would change destiny of people.”
“Any decision about future of FATA should be made in line with wishes and aspirations of tribal people.”
The celebrations started on April 7. Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Saleh bin Muhammad Ibrahim and Saudi Religious Affairs Minister Saleh bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh are also attending the celebrations.
