ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Tallah Chaudhry was on Monday told by Supreme Court to submit his response to the court by the next Monday in contempt of court case.
Tallal was represented by his counsel Kamran Murtaza, former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President, in the court. Murtaza maintained before the court that he had taken up the case after the demise of Tallal’s former counsel Asma Jahangir and thus needed more time to submit the response.
The 3-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz ul-Ahsan rejected the request saying the same reason had been cited during the last hearing. Murtaza told the court that he was going to contest the Senate elections soon and hadn’t received the notice as yet.
The court expressed surprise over the response and adjourned the proceedings till February 28.
